What on earth would an engagement or a wedding ring have to do with fire-fighters, one wonders. However, a woman whose finger had swollen up a lot needed their help and these were the people they called. Or rather, the hospital people called them to come help out.
This is how it all began. A woman in Woolwich found that her finger was very swollen and she needed to get her rings off as it was getting very tight and uncomfortable. So she and her husband went to the Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital in Woolwich in order to have the engagement ring and the wedding ring removed. The staff tried everything but they just could not get the rings off. T
